We have handled cases involving sinkings, groundings, ship fires, collisions and all that goes with it. We have acted for shipowners, charterers, cargo interests, P&I Clubs, other insurers and salvors.

We advise clients on issues regarding the best forum for dispute resolution, general average, claims calculation, limitations and insurance clams. We have a global network on which we can call upon where the situation calls for it.
Cargo Claims - Carriage of goods by sea, road, and air
We belong to a properly insured and regulated profession taking on both Plaintiff and Defence work for cargo claims.
We regularly handle and have advised in cases arising from sinkings, ship fires, groundings strandings, collisions and other aspects of carriage of goods by sea. We have also dealth with aspects of pollution and clean-up as well as salvage and towage and wreck removal. In these matters we have worked with shipowners, charterers, cargo interests, P&I Clubs, other insurers and salvors.
We also handles cases arising from the carriage of goods by road (both domestic and international).
Crump & Co. advises clients on the drafting and review of bills of lading, charterparties, way bills, consignment and booking notes and electronic bills of lading.
We have established a reputation second to none in this field and we have represented a wide range of clients including transporters and their P&I Clubs. We have worked for both cargo insurers as well as for cargo interests.
We have been involved with almost every type of cargo ranging from general and bulk oil and grain, through to containerised carriage, specie and specialist cargoes such as LNG and atomic waste. We have seen and advised in almost every situation, from war to water damage, from pilferage to pollution. We routinely advise on General Average.
Charterparties
Crump & Co. is experienced in 'dry' work and routinely advises charterers, owners and insurers. We are familiar and have advised on all major Charterparty forms including bareboat, time and voyage charters as well as contracts of affreightment and slot charters, dry bulk and containerised cargoes, oil, gas and products.
Collisions and General Average
Crump & Co. has been heavily involved in the area of collisions over the years. The firm handles all issues and aspects related to collision claims and liabilities.
The firm regularly acts for property underwriters as well as salvage contractors in the salvage claims, most of which are still governed under the Lloyd's Open Form Contract.
Commodities
We are experienced in handling soft commodity arbitrations under all of the major trading terms, such as GAFTA, FOSFA and RSA.
Fine Art / Specie claims
We have handled cases regarding fine art/specie insurance, particular in relation to diamonds and jewelry.
Yacht Claims
We act for hull and liability insurers in all types of claims involving yachts and pleasure craft including carriage afloat/ashore; contact and racing damage; policy matters; and building and contractual disputes.
Oil pollution
We have advised on accidental bunker spills and contamination and environmental damage as well as clean up and wreck removal issues.
P&I
The firm has an in depth understanding of protection and indemnity insurance. We advise members and assureds on various issues including drafting of terms of cover and rules, coverage, the principles of mutuality and the collection of unpaid premium and calls.
Personal injury and crew claims
We act for liability insurers as well as plaintiffs in connection with claims for personal injuries suffered as a result of marine casualties (on commercial vessels as well as pleasurecraft, superyachts and jet-skis) and in terminals and yacht yards as well as in non marine spheres.
Product liability
Shipbuilding
We act for hull and liability insurers in all types of claims involving pleasure craft, yachts and super yachts; including carriage afloat/ashore; contact and racing damage; policy matters; and building and contractual disputes.
Sale and purchase
The firm has considerable experience in acting for the buyers and sellers of new, second-hand and scrap vessels as well as new and second hand pleasure vessels.
We are familiar with the drafting and documentary aspect of vessel sales and purchases. We also advise on ship mortgages, loan agreements and other finance issues.
Salvage and Towage
Crump & Co. acts for salvors, shipowners and P&I in a wide range of issues involving shipping casualties and salvage operations.
